Call for Co-Editors – CJAS!

The Canadian Journal of African Studies (CJAS/RCEA) is seeking two Co-Editors to succeed Coordinating Editor Belinda Dodson, who will step down in mid-2026.

This is an exciting leadership opportunity to guide the journal’s strategic and intellectual direction, uphold high standards of scholarly excellence, and expand and diversify its authorship and readership—particularly across Africa. The Co-Editors will share responsibilities equally and lead a well-established editorial team of Associate Editors and Book Review Editors.

At least one Co-Editor must be fully bilingual (French/English), with the ability to review manuscripts in French. Applications are welcome from individuals or collaborative pairs. The role includes overseeing peer review (via ScholarOne), supporting editorial team coordination, strengthening reviewer networks (especially in Africa), liaising with Taylor & Francis, and representing the journal at conferences, including the annual meeting of the Canadian Association of African Studies (CAAS).

The positions begin with a soft start on 1st April 2026, with full responsibilities assumed on 1st July 2026. The term is open-ended, with an expected five-year commitment. A modest stipend and conference travel support are provided.

The deadline for applications is 8th March 2026.
