Publishing Diverse Research in African Studies

CJAS aims to enrich knowledge of Africa by publishing rigorous scholarship about the continent and its individual countries. In doing so, it seeks to inform policy on and in Africa and to generate public interest in the study and understanding of Africa worldwide. The journal recognises the academic value of diverse perspectives and sites of knowledge production and considers submissions from scholars at all career stages and in any part of the world. Africa-based scholars or African scholars based in Canada are particularly welcome to submit their work.

Research Topics

CJAS publishes papers across a range of subject areas including anthropology, political science, history, sociology, literature, geography, and development, but we also encourage the multidisciplinary approach that is central to African Studies. All papers should therefore be accessible to a diverse, multidisciplinary audience and should speak to broader academic debates rather than just narrow disciplinary or geographical concerns.
